The Cambridge SupTech Lab accelerates the digital transformation of financial supervision, with a focus on building resilient, inclusive, and accountable financial sectors
The Cambridge SupTech Lab operated from December 2021 through 2025 to accelerate the digital transformation of financial supervision, with a focus on building resilient, inclusive, and accountable financial sectors — particularly in emerging and developing economies.
The Lab supported supervisory authorities through applied research, capacity building, technical assistance, and innovation incubation.
The following are several markers of the scale of the Lab’s engagement with financial authorities:
Over this period, suptech has evolved into a global phenomenon, with growing demand for scalability and agility that meet the complex needs of financial supervision. With a strong track record and lasting contributions to the field, the Cambridge Suptech Lab draws to its natural conclusion.
The Lab was an initiative implemented by the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF) in collaboration with Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS), supported by Financial Innovations for Impact (Fii), built on the foundation laid by the RegTech for Regulators Accelerator (R2A). The CCAF, DTS, and Fii continue to explore opportunities to advance the supervisory innovation ecosystem co-operatively.
