The Cambridge SupTech Lab accelerates the digital transformation of financial supervision, with a focus on building resilient, inclusive, and accountable financial sectors.
Power the paradigm shift in financial supervision
In an era of constant change, the financial sector is undergoing a rapid digital transformation that brings forth new challenges for supervisors. Technological advancements, data science breakthroughs, and innovative business models have disrupted markets and financial supervision itself.
To adapt to the emergence of new risks, financial authorities are reassessing their priorities and implementing risk-based approaches. They need to allocate resources effectively to ensure the sector’s oversight remains robust. Suptech is helping them to address these complexities.
Within this dynamic landscape, supervisors are facing a steep learning curve. They seek to grasp the intricacies of market activities, products, and institutions, and oversee increasing datafication, decentralisation, and globalisation of finance at the intersaction of new consumer behaviours, needs, and expectations.
At the core of this course lies the formulation of upgraded risk-assessment methodologies and data architectures that are firmly grounded in the evolving market dynamics. This transformation is placed within the broader context of a cultural shift towards “digital-first supervision,” enabling agencies to undergo incremental and realistic transitions towards this approach.
